As a result, Peter leads him into a trap. He discovers the Gateway and attempts to enter it, only for “Atrocity” to attack him. Peter learns in the future that an anti-aging medicine will help him become the CEO of Alchemax. They all fuse together into a creature Spider-Man dubs “Atrocity.” Both Spider-Men are trapped in one other’s timelines, with events like Mary Jane Watson’s death and a showdown with Black Cat 2099 accumulating. Anti-Venom, full of rage, throws himself, Sloan, and Doctor Octopus through the time portal. Miguel confronts Anti-Venom and smashes the chip that controls him and sends Peter to the future for revival. Miguel drags Peter through the Gateway seconds later in an attempt to save him. Peter fights Anti-Venom, but he seriously injures him. He refuses to leave the building if innocent people are in danger. Peter is now employed for Alchemax in the genetics department rather than the Daily Bugle. He then tells Peter of the events that would unfold following his death on the 66th level of the Alchemax building. Miguel then utilizes Peter Parker’s DNA from the company’s archives to establish a chronal link with him in the present. When Miguel returns to 2099, he sees that Sloan’s temporal modifications have turned New York City into a terrifying dystopia. As history changes around him, he has visions of Anti-Venom slaying the original Spider-Man. He comes just as Sloan is about to enter his Gateway, but he is too late in stopping him. Miguel finds Sloan’s plan to travel back in time and find Alchemax years before it was founded, allowing him to recreate the firm in his own image and prevent its competitors from ever being formed while spying on him.

Returning to the story’s beginning, Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099 investigates Alchemax’s scientist Walker Sloan in the year 2099. The game starts with Peter Parker/Spider-Man fighting Anti-Venom, who kills him unexpectedly.
